“The Final Federation of Spain with Africa”
The University of Salamanca was founded in May 2023 on the original documents of the “final project for Spain with Africa”, which was prepared in 1930 by the road and ports channel engineer Fernando Galigo Herrera (Veloria, Salamanca, 1901 – Pamblona, 1973), despite his lack of implementation, became a reference in his civil engine.
The project, which is still being studied today, is based on a submarine tunnel of reinforced concrete with the ability to rotate in both senses and railways. At that time, this technology was studied by national and international publications.
Documents are deposited at Polytechnic High School in Zamura (EPSZ) from the University of Salama and has been donated by a platform for citizens that include relatives of Galligo, Veloria residents and engineers from all over Spain. Since then, professionals in USAL Civil Engineering are taught them with Professor Epsz Eelfio Teijón López-Zuazo, as a head researcher.
