Valencia shows artificial intelligence to anticipate natural disasters such as Dana and improve the response to emergencies

The city of Valencia Will become the test scenario of An innovative artificial intelligence Designed to predict natural catastrophes and improve coordination between emergency bodies. The system, called Lead-Pro, is an initiative by the European Commission within the program Innovation action HorizonAnd it is already in the test phase in the District of Valencian of La Torre, one of the most affected by the Dana of 2024, which has left more than 200 dead.

We are talking about a system that integrates main technologies such as IoT, data analysis and artificial intelligence to facilitate communication between police, firefighters, medical services and other emergency equipment. The goal: Act faster, with greater effectiveness and without coordination. The local police of Valencia is the first in Spain to test this tool Anticipate new climatic catastrophes.

The project is led by Nuk Technologies, with the collaboration of Isca, Itera and L3ce. Everyone work with a common goal: to avoid repeating scenes like last November, when the torrential rains flooded streets, shaved houses and delayed save.

Make decisions in real time

According to Albert Algans, CEO of Nuk and Lead-Pro coordinator: “We try to provide law enforcement of intelligent tools to make real-time decisions that save human lives”.

Isaca, on the other hand, is responsible for the training and certification of professionals who will use technology. Its director of the global strategy, Chris Dimitriadis, underlines: “We want to promote a culture of innovation and provide safety agencies with solid digital skills to deal with future crises”.

Even the head of the innovation of the local police of Valencia, José L. Diego, underlines the need to adopt new approaches to the increase in extreme phenomena: “With lead we produce a decisive step towards the integration of the AI ​​in our response strategy to emergencies”.

In addition to Valencia, the system will be tested in Vilna (Lithuania), where a fire will be simulated in a stage to evaluate its operation in another type of crisis.
