The city of Salama and the Bible Council is organizing the traditional ceremony of “El Miserere”, written by Manuel José Doyagüe. This music date is scheduled to be held this Sunday in the new cathedral, starting at seven in the afternoon and for free until the capacity is completed.
Solo voices will be: Soprano Maria del Monte Bingo, Meso -Soboanio Anna Maria Hydalgo Carnero, Gisus Calvo Sella, and Pariton Antonio Santos Garcia. The twentieth century chapel will participate in the Orchestra section, with Sergio Venets Rapol in the role of Contestino and with the Siodad de Salama choir, directed by Antonio Santos Garcia. The group will be directed by Raúl J. Ortiz Hierro.
Celebration and Traditional Adviser, Carmen Siguain, recalled that the tradition of the interpretation of Salamaca in each of the famous kidnappers of the Manuel Jose Duwajo composer was recovered in 2013 thanks to the cooperation of the Holy Week Council and the city of Salamana. Since then, this musical event has been forced to music lovers.
At this ceremony, “Misere in La Minor” will be presented to the audience, one of the most famous writings of Salamanca Manuel José Doyagüe (1755 – 1842), along with three “regrets of Jeremiah”, Motte ‘Usquequo’ and Antiphon ‘CHRISTUS Fact’. This group of works excite the liturgical music that was interpreted in the past centuries during the dark function on the great Friday. All of these works are preserved in the SIB archive in Salama.
In addition, for the first time in the modern era, two works are presented: “The second regret of the great Friday” only from Bass and “The third regret” only from Tenor, both of which were written by Manuel José Doyagüe.

Salamanca Manuel José Doyagüe (1755-1842) was a chapel teacher at the Salamana Cathedral from 1789 to his death. Although he barely left Salamanca and only consists of religious music, Duigo’s works were interpreted in the main Spanish temples and reached distant places such as Latin America and the Philippines. In Salalamca, they joined the lives of citizens, being part of all the religious celebrations attended by the authorities and the people. For the sacred week, Doyagüe wrote music full of remorse and tolerance, such as those presented by the program this Sunday.

“La Cruncifixion”, in a musical way, tells the holy history that transmits from the torment in the olive garden, to the death of Christ on the cross.
